MEPs - European Parliament

 

The European Parliament has 626 Members, representing the 370 million people who live in the 15 Member States of the European Union. MEPs meet in Brussels and Strasbourg to scrutinise, amend and vote draft legislation, and approve the annual budget of the European Union. They also debate issues affecting the European Union and draw attention to the problems of their constituents. Elections take place every 5 years, and the last election was held in 2004.

Horton is part of the South East area.  There are ten Members of the European Parliament who represent the South East.

If you want to vote, you have until Tuesday 19th May 2009 to get your name on the Register of Electors.

If you want to vote by post your name must be on the Register of Electors and an application to vote by post must be with recieved by 5pm on Tuesday 19 May 2009.
